In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Elizabeth Westbrook, Cancer Control Specialist with the Kentucky Cancer Program spoke at SKYCTC on Monday, October 21, 2013 about the importance of cancer screenings, especially for breast cancer.
Westbrook spoke to a group of about 20 women about Horse and Hope, a project of First Lady Jane Beshear that was originally founded to increase breast cancer awareness, education, screening, and treatment options among employees in Kentucky’s horse industry. Horse and Hope is now branching out to spread awareness to everyone across the state.
SKYCTC Campus and Community Service invited Westbrook to speak to the group about the importance of early cancer screens and when and how to get a mammogram. For more information on this topic or about the Kentucky Cancer Program please visit http://www.kycancerprogram.org/cancer-resources-1 .
