SKYCTC faculty and staff at each campus volunteered to welcome students back with water, snacks, directions, and other informational sheets as part of the college’s culture of caring. The activities were organized by the SKYCTC Lions’ Club.
Students gathered around campus to take a break, talk to old friends or grab a bite of lunch with some new friends.
BJ Chandler, of Franklin; Tammy Benton, of Muhlenberg County; and Latisha Woodcock, of Scottsville, (pictured right) gathered in the court yard to chat, enjoy the weather and have some lunch. All three are Surgical Tech students in their final year. All three had just met but planned to get through the year together.
When students were asked why they chose SKYCTC as their college of choice they said convenience. For some it was the convenience of being close to home and not having to pay rent or dorm fees. For others it was the convenience of not having to take out loans to pay for their college education.
