  • Modern Social Problems with Food and Food Production – September 16 – 9:30 Come learn about the modern problems with our food and food production not only in this country but in others.
  • <1i>Modern Social Problems with the Elderly – September 23 9:30 – Learn about the problems that the elderly face with neglect and abuse.
  • Banned Book Week- September 29 2:00 – Kick Off Presentation on What Banned Books Week is and The Dangers of Censorship, Mug Shots of Students “Caught” Reading Banned Books, Scavenger Hunt and Selfie Contest. Book Swap- bring a book and take a book or check one out from our librarians that will be there. Lead by the Mass Media class.

September 30 – 9:00- 11:00 – Read In, Book Swap, Contests, etc

  • Modern Social Problems with the Homeless – October 7 9:30 – Learn what the homeless in Bowling Green experience and how you can help them with resources and social policy
  • Modern Social Problems with Rape Awareness – October 19- 9:30 Hope Harbor will be here to talk about What is Rape, Awareness, and your rights as a victim.
  • Modern Social Problems with Child Abuse- October 21 9:30 Hope Harbor will return to talk about Child Abuse, local resources, etc
  • Modern Social Problems with Immigration – November 4 9:30 We hear about immigration all the time but do we know the facts? We will have an immigration specialist here to answer questions
  • Modern Social Problems with Animal Rights- November 18 9:30 The Humane Society and some furry guests will be here to talk about problems with animal rights and how you can help protect our furbabies
  • FBI Truth Myth and Truths- November 17 12:30 We will have 2 FBI agents to talk about what it is like to be in that career and what television has embellished as well as career opportunities. Sponsored by SOC 101
  • Comic Book Art Show- December 1 2:00- Kick Off, Student Created Art Display, Videos and a Comic Book Swap. Lead by Mass Media and David Jones’ Drawing Class
